This is Pixelbook: A Great Laptop for Lovers of Chrome OS

The Google Pixelbook is the first notebook that the company launches from the Chromebook Pixel 2 of 2015.

This equipment was at the time more than a mere update of the original model, introduced in 2013. This time things are different.

The Pixelbook follows a very different strategy, reflecting, we are told, what we expect to see in a device of this genre today.  With such a letter of introduction, we have no choice but to continue telling you what it looks like, do not you think? Well, read on.

At first glance, the Pixelbook is wonderful. The exterior uses the same style of design as the back of the Pixel smartphones , with aluminum (and glass) finish while giving us a solid team feel.

The original Pixel laptop was a little bulky and heavy even by the standards of 2013, however this new model is slim and very light (marks on the scale about 998 grams only).

In tune with the keyboard, it is also excellent – the keys are large and comfortable – and will be a relief for those who hate Apple’s keyboard butterfly, for example. Google, by the way, has also introduced some special accesses, with a dedicated button for your wizard.

In the same place where you would find the Windows key on a Microsoft laptop, and two others to take a screenshot and open the configuration menu in the function row.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen looks really good and is very sensitive when using the stylus. If you turn it in tablet mode – with a hinge that certainly gives a sense of good construction and resistance-you will have before you a comfortable low latency platform to write or draw, with a response that resembles that of the Surface Pro or iPad Pro , we are assured.

The user interface has changed a bit to welcome Google Assistant and Google Play applications, but it’s quite intuitive and you should not have much trouble getting the hang of it soon enough.

There is an assistant button in the lower left corner of the screen and there is also a specific menu for the new Pixelbook Pen .

By clicking and holding a button on the Pen you can select any part of the screen and activate the Google Assistant to obtain information – if you do with the image of a movie, for example, you will get more information about the movie and its characters.

As with other recent Chromebooks, Android apps are supported on this computer. Google has also started to partner with software developers to get applications that are designed with the particular Pixelbook.

One of those developers is Snapchat, although we doubt it has enough potential to be a reason to bet on Chrome OS .

Are you interested in what you see? You should take into account that Google will launch the Pixelbook in three configurations : a $ 999 model with Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

This should be more than enough for most users, but if you want, you can increase up to 256 GB for $ 1,199 or upload to a Core i7 with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for $ 1,649.
